Gallery Cafe Book Club - Tuesday 15th May. 6-8pm. Free.

What we’re reading this month: ‘The Remains of the Day’ by Kazuo Ishiguro

‘In the summer of 1956, Stevens, the ageing butler of Darlington Hall, embarks on a leisurely holiday that will take him deep into the countryside and into his past. A contemporary classic, The Remains of the Day is Kazuo Ishiguro’s beautiful and haunting evocation of life between the wars in a Great English House.’

First Thursday Exhibition Launch – 7th June 18:00
‘Crazy Sheep  and other Painted Things’

Alex Arnell paints on things, on walls on objects, on other people’s images. This exhibition brings together a collection of the ‘things’ Alex has painted.

There are painted plates, ornaments, toys, vinyl sleeves, cd cases, framed prints, photographs and even the odd canvas. He allows the process to lead what he is doing while ensuring to preserve some of the charm of the ‘thing’ in its original state.
